Snake whips or snake whips are a type of single-tailed whip. The name snake whip is derived from the fact that this type of whip has no handle inside and so can be curled up into a small circle which resembles a coiled snake. They were once commonly carried in the saddlebag by cowboys of the old west. A full sized snake whip is usually at least 4 feet in length (excluding the fall and cracker at the tip of the whip) and around one inch in diameter at the butt of the whip.

Snake Whip

The Whip, used by Billy Candle in Call of Juarez appears to be a snake whip, the conclusion drawn from the fact that many in the Old West carried curled up snake whips on their saddle bags.

Mechanics[]

Snake whips or snake whips are a type of single-tailed whip. The name snake whip is derived from the fact that this type of whip has no handle inside and so can be curled up into a small circle which resembles a coiled snake. They were once commonly carried in the saddlebag by cowboys of the old west. A full sized snake whip is usually at least 4 feet in length (excluding the fall and cracker at the tip of the whip) and around one inch in diameter at the butt of the whip.

Call of Juarez[]

The whip can be found in three locations. It can be found on the wagon under Suzy's window, on a hitching post by some horses at the Blacksmith, or, if the player is determined enough, can stack crated to get into Suzy's room where the whip is found along side the Ladies Gun. Billy uses the whip from then onward. The whip has two functions. It enables Billy to get to places he can't reach, and can also be used as an effective weapon against rattlesnakes, spiders, or wolves. If the player is skilled enough, they can also use the whip against human enemies. After falling into a river due to a gunshot delivered by Ray McCall, the whip was the only possession Billy had after being rescued by Calm Water. After Ray is shot by Juarez, Billy is forced to drop his bow and gun (and presumably the whip) into a drain in the floor.
