The FX-05 Xiuhcoatl assault rifle, referred to as the FX-5, is a weapon featured in Call of Juarez: The Cartel.
Mechanics[]
The development of the FX-05 was to replace the Mexican military's G3A3 rifles. Originally the Mexican Government was going to pay 63 million dollars to purchase G36 assault rifles to adopt as the new government issued rifle for the Mexican military. Instead, the Mexican Government paid 84 million pesos to invest in the FX-05 Project. The rifle itself is modeld after the G36 rifle (which has caused a controversy, and a lawsuit). One feature the FX-05 had was it had a polygonal rifling instead of a grooved rifling like most rifles. The FX-05 also uses the gas-piston system of the AK, and a recoil delaying system.
Call of Juarez: The Cartel[]
The FX-5 is the primary assault rifle of the Mendoza Cartel, and is also used by a few PKI mercenaries. The Vatos Locos street gang also got their hands on the FX-5 when a few escaped from capture, and besieged the Interagency Task Force along with Michael Duke and Antonio Alvarez in the ruins of Raytown . The FX-5 is fully automatic, all though there is a slight delay between shots. In the multiplayer, the gun is powerful and has a high rate of fire, but it has a high recoil. It is unlocked by achieving level 17 in the Secret Agenda and is unlocked at level 30 on the Cop Team in multiplayer.

- Xiuhcoatl is actually Classic Nahuatl for "turqouise serpent" or more descriptively "fire serpent".
- Call of Juarez: The Cartel also marks the first time the FX-05 has appeared in a video game.
