The AK-47, referred to as the AK, is a weapon featured in Call of Juarez: The Cartel.

The AK-47 is a selective-fire assault rifle first produced in 1947 by Mikhail Kalashnikov. The AK is an acronym for "Avtomat Kalashnikova". The AK-47 was one of the first assault rifles to ever be made (surpassed only by the Sturmgewehr 44). The main advantages the AK-47 had was it had a simple design, fairly compact, and is easily mass produced. This made the AK-47 one of the most produced firearms in the world (and the most smuggled firearm in the world). To fire, an operator inserts a loaded magazine, pulls back on the charging handle, releases it, and pulls the trigger. This only makes the AK-47 fire in semi-automatic. To fire fully automatic (meaning the operator can hold the trigger which cycles fresh rounds into the chamber), the operator must switch the fire selector to fully automatic. In media however, the AK is almost always shown firing fully automatically. The AK-47 is chambered in 7.62x39mm.

Call of Juarez: The CartelEdit

The AK is one of The Cartel's most featured firearms, useable in 10 of the 15 missions in the game. The AK ingame uses a 30 round magazine. It is unlocked by default.
